You set the standard for a professional military ethos, superior commitment to duty, and unwavering courage to answer any call to action.
Earning the title is not a one-time occurrence, it happens every day you wear the uniform.
Standards Matter to Us
As Marines we demonstrate what is best in society. Our nation looks up to us a model citizens and as warriors.
The United States relies on us to fight and win its battles and because of this we hold ourselves to the highest standards.
Physically, mentally and morally. When you become a Marine you become a warfighter and you are a Marine for life.
The best this nation has to offer has worn this uniform, and many Marines have died preserving our standards, our traditions, our values, and our legacy.
The title of United States Marine is not something you are born with it is something that must be earned.
But you don’t just earn it once you have to earn it every single day you wear our uniform. Standards matter to us, you matter to us.

We are United States Marines, and for two and a quarter centuries, we have defined the standards of courage, esprit and military prowess. – Gen. James L. Jones
